What is Hyperloop?

Hyperloop is a futuristic mode of transportation, also called pipe transportation because of it's nature to move in air less tunnel to avoid friction. Hyperloop was first proposed by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk in 2013. In recent years, hyperloop has gain excitement due to predicted transportation speed of 1200 km/hr. Elon Musk and his team at Tesla and SpaceX has open sourced the project to invite competition.

The hyperloop alpha concept was first released in August 2013, examining a route from Los Angeles to San Francisco bay area. In Hyperloop transportation system, there will be a pod running in a frictionless tube with low air pressure. The pod will use the principle of linear induction to gain the motion of 700 mi/hr.

The pod would first gain motion using an electric motor before the linear magnetic induction takes
place and the pod can glide at cruising speed in the low-pressure environment. Tunnels for the hyperloop will be built either above of  bellow the ground.

Many interdisciplinary students have led teams working to advance the technology. There are many companies competing to make the first commercial hyperloop. Hyperloop One was formed by Shervin Pishevar and Brogan BamBrogan in 2014, and now has 280+ engineers, and technicians. It has raised more than USD 160 in venture capital funds.

Other hyperloop companies include Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, Transpod, DGWHyperloop, Arrivo, Hardt Global Mobility, Hyper Chariot and so on.

But how much Hyperloop may cost to built? One of the exciting thing about hyperloop is it converts the potential cost saving of the technology. Compared to the the high-speed rail transport, Hyperloop  need less ground space to build the tunnels and less energy. According to Elon Musk, the route from Los Angeles to San Francisco would cost $ 6 billion, compared to $ 68 billions high-speed rail road.
This has brought entreprenuer to very exciting level as this can be very cost optimized and high performant. So,keep up with the coming up innovation in hyperloop sector.
